WATAN Project to rebuild life in Al-Wefaq camp in the Idlib countryside

In the unforgiving depths of the northern Syrian winter, a recurring tragedy unfolds, casting its icy grip on displaced camps. Cold and dark nights descend without warning, injecting hearts with fear and despair. The displaced find themselves vulnerable in the face of bitter frost, where time freezes between their fingers and rain floods, mercilessly washing away their simple tents.

WATAN‘s role is to provide safety and warmth to these families in dire need. These endeavors are infused with the spirit of humanity and brotherhood as WATAN’s dedicated teams collaborate to construct shelters to provide security these displaced families yearn for.

Conducting a meticulous analysis and comprehensive assessment of the families’ needs, WATAN teams initiated a humanitarian project at the Al-Wefaq camp in the Idlib countryside.

The project’s inception involved designing advanced housing units to replace fragile tents. These units boast walls equipped with insulating and flame-retardant materials, while concrete structures house bathrooms and kitchens. This strategic focus on housing that protects against harsh weather factors ensures that these shelters represent a dignified and private sanctuary for displaced families.

WATAN’s tireless efforts encompassed comprehensive infrastructure development. Roads were renewed and paved to enhance access to services and ensure safety. Advanced sanitation systems and dedicated garbage collection and processing centers were established—a collective initiative aimed at creating a safe and healthy environment for the displaced, all while preserving their dignity and privacy.

This project stands as an embodiment of solidarity and inspiring humanity. In this compelling narrative, the importance of cooperation and partnership emerge as essential pillars in alleviating the suffering of displaced people. The teams and organizations providing assistance did not operate in isolation; instead, they pooled their efforts and resources, achieving a profound impact.
